Lina and Ice Puppies 1 Week Old

Puppies have reached a lovely milestone, doing really well at 1 week old. All have doubled or more their birth weight which is exactly how you want them to be. Mum leaves them for a bit in the moorings now and have been down to the beach for a bit of fresh air and stretching of legs. Puppies as very content, making the most adorable snuffling noises. Listening to them suckling is pure therapy!

There is really enough for all...!

Its Friday, whoop whoop!

Busy day so just a late picture of the content little family. All doing well, getting fatter. They look like little mumin trolls when lying on their side, fat belly's and bottoms :-)
Not sure how Lina have ended up with just one leg and no tail??

Its a hard puppy life!

Today was the day Lina thought, actually I'd like to go out now! When I was getting ready to take Unikko and Blizz our for their walk, Lina came trotting downstairs and was very obviously keen to join us. We did just a 10 min turn around the block with her before returning to her pups but she was full of beans, barking at cats, saying hello to neighbours. Of course being out where other dogs walk can present a risk of introducing harmful pathogens to pups so each time we come in we have to clean shoes and paws with disinfectant, and clean that off paws with water,  its much to think of just for a trip to the outside world!

Day 2!

Day 2 and all puppies are doing well. They are gaining weight steadily and you can see how face markings are coming out, they will all have pretty markings, very much like their mum. Puppies are born in a very immature state, they are unable to control temperature so its vital to keep them warm, this usually done by cuddling up to mum and huddling in a puppy bundle near mum. If she needs to leave for more than a few minutes then a warming substitute is needed. This can be an electric warming pad, or you can dig out an old hot water bottle in a rather splendid cover! Lina needed to have her "knickers" ( long coat covering  her rear end) washed yesterday which took her away for a bit too long to just leave puppies without warmth, see below how content puppies were with substitute mum :-)
Also a couple of puppy fix snaps of snoozing bundle this  morning

Introducing Lina and Ice's Mothers Day litter.

Seven again, like mum and gran, magic number for many and certainly works for me. Puppies and mum had a good first night, feeding and sleeping. Mum Lina was even brave enough to ask to go for a wee in the early hours, but she is frantic to get back in, she is super mum!
Here is a very brief introduction to the gang, mum is very concerned when you take pups from her and they cry so making it quick
Lina and Ice are the parents to the gang

Ice playing hard to get!

Puppy life is about eating and sleeping.

Top and tails.

In an amazing record time and appropriately on Mothers Day Lina gave birth to 7 puppies, 5 girls and 2 boys. All lovely black and Tan, No creme like their dad Ice, need a creme gene from both parent to produce that colour and Lina, to my knowledge have no immediate creme in her pedigree.
Here they all are having their first taste of mums colostrum. We all just need to relax now as this have been a very long journey in planning. Enjoy and individual puppy pics will appear once we all recovered from today's speedy actions :-)
